Behold the grandeur of Moray’s three amphitheater-style terraces. Carved intricately into the earth, these terraces are not just feats of architecture but are believed to have served as Incan laboratories. By leveraging these unique designs, the Incas ascertained the best conditions for their diverse crop cultivation.

After delving into the secrets of Moray, we journey a short distance of about 2 miles to the ancient salt mines of Maras. Maras, a testament to time, is renowned for its salt production, a tradition that predates even the Incas. As you venture here, marvel at over 3000 salt pools etched into the mountainside. Witness the genius of ancient water channeling, as saline water from natural springs is directed through miniature canals to feed these terraced ponds. Bathed under the sun, the water eventually evaporates, yielding the precious salt crystals.
